Some More Random Shit
Hey everyone! It's me, your favourite over-caffieneated-hyperactive-slightly OCD-hypocrite! YAY! Just some random crap that I feel like saying-writing-whatever. Sound Awake came out. HELL YEAH! It's more awesome than I imagined, although honestly I prefer their first album. And for anyone who doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about, here: http://www.myspace.com/karnivool. LISTEN TO THEM. LISTEN. NOW!!
Sorry, like I said, slightly OCD.
Anyway, there's some great shit coming out. Dredg had their new album The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion on June 9th. Although, unfortunately, it didn't come out in Australia, so I kinda COULDN'T GET IT!! Oh well. I'll find a way.
Two albums on June 23rd: Maylene and the Sons of Disaster's third album, which is called III (oh, how creative) and DT's Black Clouds & Silver Linings. From what I've heard of BC&SL it's great. I've also heard one song - Just A Shock - from III. I think there's some annoying religious preachings or something in there, but who cares. It's great nonetheless.
YAY LOL!! 3STM are also having a new album. This Is War (again, the originality shocks me). I haven't heard any songs from it yet, but from the updates on Twitter that I have been following (wow, I have WAY too much time on my hands) sounds like its comin' along great. Also around the August-September mark is Freak Kitchen's Land of the Freaks. 2009 is like, the year of awesome music or something. Oh well. Who cares.

The New Stuff This Year
The new stuff this year. There's a sh*tload of bands releasing a new album in June: Karnivool with Sound Awake on June 5, Rancid released their new album Let The Dominoes Fall two days ago, which I bought, there's Dredg with The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion on June 9 (I've heard two songs, Saviour and Information, Saviour sucks and Information is OMGOMGOMG good) and there's two (not one, but two) new albums on June 23 from two completely unreleated bands: Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster with their third album, III (what a creative name!) and Dream Theater with Black Clouds & Silver Linings, which sound like the awesomeness so far. Moving away from June, 30 Seconds To Mars are having a new album sometime in September. Sounds like some good shit. And I've heard something about a new Dillinger Escape Plan album (WHY wasn't I told about this earlier!) Some things that MIGHT be ALRIGHT are The Used's new album (praying to whatever God there is that it's better than their last album) and Killswitch Engage's Killswitch Engage, which is Killswitch Engage's second album called Killswitch Engage. (What?). Killswitch Engage may be pretty shit, but they are a hell of a lot better than some metalcore you'll find out there (i.e. Trivium, and Atreyu). Don't take that the wrong way though, I certainly don't LIKE Killswitch Engage, I just don't HATE them as much as the aforementioned abominations of the term music. (What? I'm confusing myself now). Anyway. Aside from all that, I'm considering going to a Dead Letter Circus w/ The Butterfly Effect show sometime in July, and... and... (God my life is boring) Haha. Mammal have said they will start writing a new album sometime after they finish touring (Excuse me while I dance insanely around my small, crowded room). So did Cog, right? I don't know. This is all just an excuse to waste my time. Have fun, people who are so bored they'll read MY blog!

Mammal/Jericco Live Show 14/3/'09
Hey everyone. I know it's been a while since my last blog, almost a year, so I hope someone reads this. Anyway, just yesterday I went to a gig at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney. The headlining band was Mammal and the support was a band called Jericco. Both are quite underground Australian rock bands, so it was a pretty small venue. Now, all you people probably hadn't heard of either of those bands (I hadn't heard of Jericco either) so I'll tell you a little about them.
About Jericco: there isn't much to tell. Their only release is a self-titled EP with six tracks.
Track listing for Jericco EP:
1. Jericco
2. Always
3. Sun
4. Rujm (Pile Of Stones)
5. Home (Where Did We Go Wrong)
6. Dahab
The 1st and last tracks are instrumentals. The 3rd track was released as a single.
You can find Jericco's MySpace here.
Mammal have a little more history.
Despite only being around since I think '06, about 2-3 years, Mammal have already released one live album, 1 EP, 1 full album, and four singles (one being a sort of AA side release that can only be bought in CD form at live shows; otherwise they are digital only downloads). They also have a new live album, new live DVD, and new album coming up soon.
Anyway, to their history. Their are a funk rock/alternative rock/progressive rock band from Melbourne, Australia. The singer's name is Ezekiel Ox, he has a couple of solo projects. Bassist is Nick Adams, drummer is Zane Rosanoki (I think), guitarist is Pete Williamson.
These guys I did know before the gig; they had been one of my favourite bands for ages (along with other rock acts from Australia like Cog, Karnivool, .hinge, The Butterfly Effect, Rook, Gyroscope, Sydonia and many others). I really suggest you give them a listen here.
Mammal's releases:
2006 Mammal - (EP)
2007 Vol.1 The Aural Underground - (Live Album)
2007 Slaves/Nagasaki in Flames - (Digital Single)
2008 Smash the Pinata - (Single)
2008 The Majority - (Single)
2008 The Majority - (Album)
So, yeah, that basically concludes it. I had mad fun headbanging to my favourite Mammal songs; I brought the Jericco EP and got it signed by the guys; bought the digital single Slaves/Nagasaki In Flames, although I already had both songs, purely for the fact to get it signed (and that there was a live bonus track I didn't have; also it was only available on CD at live shows); AND I got two Mammal T-shirts for my brother and me. I also discovered Jericco, a great band. Have fun, guys!
